Dear Design Team,

I ain’t gonna lie — this was a weird couple of months. Not losing a job per se, but understanding and accepting the fact that it's time to say goodbye to the place that played such a big role in my life and has become my home and my family.

Five years ago, I packed my life into a suitcase (singular) and moved to Amsterdam to work for WeTransfer. In a way, not the city became my new home, but the people of this wonderful, vibrant, and weird in the best possible way place. Even though the realization that it’s time for me to move on had come long before the October events, saying goodbye to this chapter is a very emotional and bittersweet moment for me.

Through the good, bad, and terrible times, I always felt supported, seen, and never alone. I’m thankful for all the work that we’ve done together, for every meeting and every chitchat before every meeting, every Friday party, a bunch of cool offsites (and one very memorable home party), for all the jokes about Arctic Monkeys, but most of all — for the joy, hope, and laughter we shared, these are the moments I will always cherish the most.

Kelly, Saga, Stijn, Grant, Nathan, Sergei, Daria, Lisa, Iuilia and the rest of the team, thank you all, we’ve done a lot of cool stuff together. A part of me will always belong to you.

Even if I tried, I wouldn't be able to find a better farewell line than the one Thomas S. used when he left the company a few years ago:

"Goodbye, WeTransfer, keep staying weird."

A.
